project overview

The Journal Square community in Jersey City is poised for revitalization through the transformation and modernization of the Hudson County Justice Complex. This project includes the construction of the Honorable Frank J. Guarini Justice Complex and the renovation of the historic William J. Brennan Courthouse, creating a new civic district in the heart of Jersey City.

Overall, this project reflects Jersey City's commitment to modernizing its civic infrastructure while also promoting community revitalization and public space enhancement in the Journal Square area.

A key aspect of this development is the removal of the outdated Hudson County Administration Building at 595 Newark Avenue, which currently houses the majority of the County’s court spaces. This demolition will unlock a prime, centrally located site for higher uses, including the creation of new parkland, contributing to the community’s growth and enhancing the urban landscape.
